RIIMINKA RESPONSIBILITY
DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING
Riiminka and Aleksiina Design products are designed in Finland by our own family business. Occasionally, design work is also done during holidays abroad. Ideas may arise at the kitchen table at home or on a sandy beach in Italy.
Riiminka & Aleksiina Design products are responsibly manufactured in our own production facilities as local production in Finland: in Jyväskylä and Tampere. Therefore, all clothing, bags, jewellery and other products are considered locally made products.
Ecological and ethical practices guide both product design and manufacturing.
In our opinion, a Finnish domestic product can only be manufactured in Finland, and the country of manufacture can always be seen on the care label. It is worth checking! Please note that “Made in EU” does not specify the country of manufacture. “Made in Finland”, "Handmade in Finland" or “Manufactured in Finland” does.

EMPLOYEES
Our employees are highly skilled, trained adult professionals.
We offer internship opportunities for students in our sewing workshop.
In the store, you are mainly served by the designers and owners of Riiminka & Aleksiina Design.
We follow the collective agreement of the textile and fashion industry.
PRODUCT PRICING
Product pricing is not based on arbitrary estimation. The correct sales price is determined by production costs, expenses and margins.
Products are manufactured for the store according to demand in suitable quantities. Products ordered from the online shop are mainly made to order.
The store and online shop also offer discounted items, samples (prototype pieces), and models discontinued due to material availability. And of course, campaigns are organised from time to time.
MATERIALS
Natural fibre fabrics are used as raw materials for textile products, and organic options are preferred whenever possible. The most common materials are linen, cotton, lyocell, bamboo viscose and cotton viscose.
Materials are sourced from Finland or at least within the EU. We do not use Chinese or Belarusian linen.
Non-renewable oil- and coal-based textile materials such as polyester, polyamide and acrylic have already been removed from clothing production years ago. Some bags still use polyester padding and lining fabric for hygiene and smoothness.
Fabric bags are made from sanforized Öko-Tex 100 cotton fabric. We use YKK zippers, possibly the best zippers in the world.
Printed products are printed in Finland. The inks used in individual prints and the paints used in jewellery are water-soluble and non-toxic.
For jewellery we use PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification systems) birch and oak plywood manufactured in Finland. Other wood species are also sourced from Finnish manufacturers. Metal parts and fittings are purchased from Finland or at least within the EU depending on availability.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
All Riiminka and Aleksiina Design textile products include a sewn-in washing and care label. Basic information is also available in the online shop alongside each product.
In stores, you will also receive additional verbal care instructions and tips according to your needs.

PACKAGING
Textile products are not packed in plastic in storage at any stage of production or delivery. We mainly use paper and cardboard packaging materials for shipments.
In some cases, self-sealing plastic packaging is used due to shipment size requirements.
Used shipping packages can be returned to our store for reuse, placed in appropriate recycling bins or disposed of properly as energy waste.
PRODUCT WARRANTY
Riiminka & Aleksiina Design products are high-quality handmade products. We deliver only inspected and intact items. Of course, human mistakes may happen.
If a product breaks due to a quality defect within a reasonable time after purchase, we will inspect the product and, if necessary, replace it with a new one or repair it to a condition comparable to new.
Products damaged by customers are not replaced or repaired free of charge.
WASTE
Our waste is properly sorted and we actively reduce mixed waste.
All waste is sorted according to local waste management practices in Jyväskylä and Tampere.
USED AND DAMAGED RIIMINKA PRODUCTS
Customers’ damaged Riiminka and Aleksiina Design clothing and bags can be repaired in our sewing workshop if repair is technically possible and reasonably priced. The customer naturally decides how the product will be handled.
All Riiminka and Aleksiina Design textiles can be returned to the RIIMINKA & Aleksiina Design store once they have reached the end of their lifecycle. Textiles are transported to a recycling collection point in Tampere.
RIIMINKA & Aleksiina Design store accepts customers’ Riiminka and Aleksiina Design products for resale, provided they are in good condition, clean (washed with fragrance-free detergents), and undamaged.
The suitability of the product for resale and the resale price will be agreed together with the customer. The customer receives 70% of the resale price as store credit, and the reseller’s commission is 30%.
The credit can be used to purchase a new Riiminka or Aleksiina Design product once the item has been sold.
Please always ask for detailed instructions before bringing products for sale.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is mainly handled through carbon-neutral services provided by Posti and other logistics companies whenever available.
Our own vehicle is used for transport related to fairs and events.
CARBON FOOTPRINT AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
All purchased electricity is produced using renewable and non-material natural resources: hydropower, wind power, solar power and biogas.
Our largest emissions arise from district heating of business premises, electricity consumption, and business travel between two production facilities and the store (transport of people and goods).
Indirect emissions arise from energy consumption by fabric and accessory manufacturers as well as online shop deliveries.
